Vince Tipple and his partner Jane, aka VJ Antiques and Collectables have been stallholders at the Westerham Brocante since we started. They specialise in vintage decorative glassware. Get to know a little bit more about them here ...
How and when did you come to start your business?
I (Vince) have had a passion for and been collecting Glass, since mid-90s, mainly as decorative pieces. I always liked looking for new and unusual glass at antique fairs and emporiums and that was where I first got the idea that this could be good as a future business. However, it didn’t turn into a reality until 2017, when my new partner, Jane, agreed we should try it. And here we are, two years later and enjoying every minute of it.
What's your speciality?
Our main product is decorative glassware. I used to study and collect Whitefriars glass but, we have since started researching other English Glass makers, which then led us into researching other countries' glass makers - from France and Czech (Bohemia). We are starting to move away from Whitefriars now and concentrating on early and mid-20th Century Czech designers, which are proving to be very popular.
Do you only sell from fairs or do you have a shop or online shop?
Currently we rent space in Memories Antiques Emporium in Rochester, Kent. However, most of our trade is done at Fairs. We prefer to travel around and sell directly to people, rather than waiting for them to come to us. We are investigating the options of a website, but at this time, due to high costs, it is on the back burner for now.
